The Poetry of Clive James

By Ian - Posted on 16 March 2014

At the REC, Tuesday 25th March, 19:00 for a 19:30 start.

Clive James made amusing but trivial TV programmes. He has also published the finest recent translation of Dante and is a poet of great skill. A complex character, then. Right now he is living a vivid experience of dying, and as he dies he writes his finest poetry. In this session, Mark Steinhardt will introduce us to a selection of his work, and we will share the development of this last phase – reflective, of course, but often positive, always honest, always moving, technically superb.
