Serena Williams won the Wimbledon tennis final again this year (2010) and in her acceptance speech she made a point of thanking "Jehovah - my god" amongst others. This is the same Serena who in 2009 and was fined $10,000 (out of her $350,000 winnings) for swearing at a line judge in the US open? "I swear to God I'll f***** take the ball and shove it down your f****** throat."

Exactly how much help did she get from her god? Is this allowed under the rules or is her god just another coach? Was he/she watching the game to see his/her protégé win? And what about Serena's oponent Vera Zvonareva, did she play without her god or was he/she busy with something else?
Yesterday was also another great sporting event, the world cup football quarter final. This time it was Argentina against Germany, both England’s “enemies”. Diego Maradona, famous for his “hand of god” goal in the 1986 quarter final against England, is now Argentina’s head coach. He obviously was not praying hard enough or maybe his god decided it was time for some justice. Why else would Argentina loose 4-0 ?
