BBC head of religion

By John - Posted on 10 October 2010

According to the Sunday Times today, Michael Wakelin the former BBC head of religious programs has been rehired after receiving a redundancy payment of up to £364,000 in March 2009. The paper obtained data under the freedom of information act.

Wakelin is now executive producer of ‘Pause for thought’ on radio 2 and has also been working one day a week on a report examining how the BBC portrays religion in its programs.

Most humanists would probably not want the position to be refilled but the Sunday Times says Wakelin appears to have been replaced by two people in the short term. Suggesting the licence fee payers will be better off in the long term.
