Secular Europe Campaign update

By Kim - Posted on 08 September 2011

Preparations are well advanced for our participation in the Campaign for a Secular Europe, a march and rally to celebrate a Europe in which we have freedom of expression, freedom of religion, and freedom from religion.

We will be travelling to London on the morning of Saturday 17th September. We will unroll our banners on The Embankment along with thousands of other people concerned at the persistent meddling in politics, particularly by the Vatican, which seeks to impose its dogma on all and sundry by nobbling governments.

Secularism is the only guarantee of freedom, for religious people as well as for the non-religious.

We will march along the Embankment, past Parliament, for a rally in Whitehall. Speakers will include Peter Atkins, Andrew Copson, Richard Dawkins, Evan Harris, Robin Ince, Stephen Law, Fr Bernard Lynch, P Z Myers, Richard Norman, Gerard Phillips, Naomi Phillips, Philip Pullman, Terry Sanderson, Peter Tatchell, Polly Toynbee, Marco Tranchino, Anne Marie Waters and David Yallop.

See secular-europe-campaign.org for more information. If you want to come and march with us, drop us a line - admin (at) bedshumanists.org.uk.
